The Rocky Boy’s Reservation, established on September 7, 1916, is located in Hill County in north-central Montana, nestled within the scenic Bear Paw Mountains. Covering about 128,000 acres, it is the smallest reservation in the state but home to a vibrant community of approximately 2,700 residents, with another 5,000 members living beyond its borders. Cree remains the predominant language, though only a few fluent speakers of Chippewa remain. The Tribe was also among the first in the nation to embrace self-governance, setting a foundation for strong leadership and sovereignty.
The community unites two closely related peoples: the Cree (Nēhiyaw), who migrated south from Canada, and the Chippewa (Ojibwe), who moved westward from North Dakota. Though once distinct, these groups came together in the late 19th century and were officially recognized as the Chippewa Cree Indians of the Rocky Boy’s Reservation.

oReferrals to appropriate tribal and community service providers.
oCommunity Outreach/Education
Maintain a secured office for the Office of Victim Services where clients can meet with the Advocate
in a confidential manner and maintain their anonymity.
Will provide outreach to meet and with victims of sexual and domestic violence outside of the
program's office.
Produce and Distribute outreach materials.
Develop all necessary recordkeeping forms.
Maintain confidential records.
Compile statistics and data needed to track progress and goals and objectives met.
Reportto funding agency asrequired.
Attend necessary trainings/conferences
Attend meetings, workshops, and trainings that will enhance the Victims of Crime
Advocate to perform his/her job.

Requirements
Must have a valid State of Montana Driver’s License Pass a DMV background investigation Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation Minimum of 2 years college education, preferably in the field of Social Services, Women’s Studies, or criminal justice. 3-5 years work experience as an advocate/court advocate for victims of domestic violence Good oral and written communication skills Familiarity with local community resources and Native American culture Possess administrative, organizational, and grant writing skills Ability to work a flexible 40 hour week with night and weekend work required on an as needed basis. Willingness to travel in and out of the State of Montana Willingness to be on-call 24hr/7day week. Must submit to a background investigation for this position. Priority for Selection of applicants for employment within the Chippewa Cree Tribe is as follows: o Qualified, honorably discharged (must show proof by submitting a DD 214 Certificate) veterans who are enrolled members of the Chippewa Cree Tribe; o Qualified enrolled members of the Chippewa Cree Tribe; o Other qualified Indians; o Qualified Non-Indians. Testing: Subject to drug testing per Drug Ordinance 1-99.
